Phoebe AWikimedia DC's cultural partnerships program
This could be a multiyear program; but this is their first commitment.
Abundant interest for partnerships in the DC area; partnered with 13 institutions last year
Interest in glam infrastructure
Summer of monuments: was WMDC's first multi-state GLAM program / contacts with 23 cultural insittutions; supported volunteer trips to North Carolina to support outreach. This was a start (there was nothing before, now there is something).
WMDC learned a lot from their experiences:
Had one person working full time for 5 months on both institutional contacts and the online contest, that was too much. Work was not connnected to the consortium. Didn't use volunteers enough; not enough time.
Proposing next steps:
a new cultural partnerships program
developing a network of cultural professionals and volunteers
supported by a new, paid cultural partnerships coordinator (part time, one year)
